PURPOSE: To prevent the nonconformity after beginning air conditioning started in the case of insufficient flowing state of heat exchanging medium in a heat exchanger inside a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: This air conditioner is provided with a bypass passage 11 by which air sucked in a unit 8 bypasses a heat exchanger 3 inside a vehicle, a damper 12 opening and closing the bypass passage 11, an opening regulating means 13 operating the damper 12 to open/close the bypass passage 11, and an air conditioning control means 18 outputting a control signal to the opening regulating means 13 so that the damper is rotationally moved to make the opening larger as the detected temperature becomes-lower, when the detected temperature by a heat exchanger temperature sensor 10 is under a fixed value and a DEF mode is selected by a blow-off direction setting means 17.
