PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polling system capable of N:M communication for a system which has a fast terminal and a terminal interface of >=64 kb/s in terminal speed. SOLUTION: A control signal is converted in terminal interfaces 2 and 3 into an ST signal for signaling and on the basis of information of the ST signal, a branch interface 4 selects one of pieces of data from the terminal interfaces 2 and 3. The selected data and ST signal are transmitted from the branch interface 4 to a host through a terminal interface 1. Consequently, even the system having a >=64 kb/s terminal speed becomes able to have an N:M communication by polling.
