PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a copper phthalocyanine pigment having performances equivalent to those of a conventional product within a shorter time at lower energy. SOLUTION: A copper phthalocyanine synthesized from phthalic acid or its derivative, copper or its compound, and urea in the presence of a metal phthalocyanine derivative represented by the following formula and an organic solvent is wet-ground in the presence of a grinding medium: formula: MePc-[X-NR1R2]n [wherein MePc is a metal phthalocyanine residue; X is CO or SO2; R1 and R2 are each independently hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted alkenyl, or an optionally substituted ring group (they may be combined with each other to form a five- or six-membered ring which may contain another nitrogen atom); and (n) is an integer of 1-3].
