PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability concerned with the start of an operating system(OS) in an information processing system. SOLUTION: A mother board management controller(MBC) 20 is provided with a boot device switching control part 21. The control part 21 automatically switches the relation of a master and a slave between two disk deices 18, 19 by boot device switching signals S1, S2. Thereby a boot device for starting the OS can be selectively switched between the two disk devices 18, 19. Boot device switching control is executed based on a state whether the boot completion of the OS is detected within prescribed time elapsed or not by counting the time elapsed from the generation of an OS start signal by a timer.
