A holder for an electric heating element for a through flow heating system has a tubular section cut open to enable the element to be laid into the holder and with grips (15, 16) at each end to secure the ends of the heating element. The grips also serve to clip the holder into the heating system. Slots (20, 21) near each end guide the fluid over the heating element. The holder is clipped into a heating system in parallel with similar heating elements. A one -piece construction provides a reusable holder with full support for the heating element.
