Compression pipe coupling uses compression sleeve (22) slid axially over outside of at least one pipe end (10) and crimp sleeve (18) coupled to support sleeve (12) fitted into pipe end. Compression sleeve is displaced axially to fit over crimp sleeve, its inside surface having at least one compression bead (24,26), providing higher compression force than section of compression sleeve lying behind compression bead in axial displacement direction. An Independent claim for a method for providing a compression coupling between a pipe end and a pipe fitting with a support sleeve is also included.
