<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing lithium manganate which is capable of providing an excellent overdischarge property and cell keeping quality when used especially as a positive pole subsidiary active material in a lithium secondary cell. <P>SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing lithium manganate by mixing a lithium compound and a manganese compound and then baking the mixture, comprises a first baking process of the mixture under an oxygen-containing atmosphere and then a second baking process at a temperature higher than that at the first baking process under a substantially inert atmosphere to, consequently obtain the lithium manganate expressed by the formula: Li<SB>x</SB>MnO<SB>2</SB>(wherein, (x) satisfies the equation: 0.9≤x≤1.1). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
