<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To do printing with a predetermined printing width in a printer using roll paper with a limited printing width. <P>SOLUTION: This printer, which do the printing for each line on the roll paper, comprises a printing data editing means for performing editing by setting printing data on a predetermined number of characters equivalent to one line, and setting the printing data equivalent to a predetermined number of lines to be a printing area, and a printing means for doing the printing by turning the printing data at an angle of 90° on a line basis. The printing means does the printing in the paper feeding direction of the roll paper by turning the printing data for each line in the printing area, which are edited by the printing data editing means, at an angle of 90° on a line basis, and does the printing with a predetermined space between the printing areas in the paper feeding direction of the roll paper. In the editing of the printing data, the printing data are split according to a printing data amount limited by the width of the roll paper, so as to form a printing area, and the printing is done in the paper feeding direction of the roll paper by taking the printing area as a unit, so that the printing can be done with the predetermined printing width on the roll paper with the limited printing width. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
