A display device is provided to efficiently prevent the defect of display quality, which is caused by maintaining the latch-up state of an inverter when errors instantaneously occur in power supply. An inverter(20) supplies driving power to a backlight unit. A power supply unit(1) supplies electric power to the inverter. A micro computer(34) outputs a backlight controlling signal to control an illuminating function of the backlight unit. A controller(40) outputs an inverter controlling signal to the inverter, according to the comparative result of comparing the voltage level of the inverter power supplied to the inverter with the voltage level of a predetermined reference voltage, when the illuminating function of the back light is in an ON-state based on the backlight controlling signal.
