<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving the reduction of the number of parts and the decrease of variation in the separation amount of a developer carrier from an image carrier between the developer carriers. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a contacting and separating mechanism 500 for linearly moving a developing cartridge 27 to a contact position where the developing cartridge 27 comes into contact with a photoreceptor drum 29 and a separation position where it is separated from the photoreceptor drum 29. The contacting and separation mechanism 500 is equipped with a pair of contacting and separating members 501 arranged to be opposed to each other in a width direction while holding four developing cartridges 27 in between and provided to linearly move in a front-and-rear direction, and a synchronously moving mechanism 502 for linearly moving the pair of contacting and separating members 501 synchronously. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
