<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microporous base membrane excellent in the wettability, the wet/dry cycling property, the filterability to a polar liquid or solution, the flow rate and/or durability under a low pH condition, the flowability and/or durability at room temperature or at a high temperature, and the transparency to an energy having a predetermined wavelength and the like; and to provide a membrane including a crosslinkable coating formed on a surface of the above membrane. <P>SOLUTION: The microporous base membrane is coated with a coating which comprises a polyvinyl nucleophilic polymer and a urethane or a blocked isocyanate, or a polyvinyl nucleophilic polymer and both a urethane and a blocked isocyanate, and optionally is cross-linked.
