PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera with which photographing can be performed without missing a shutter chance and further, in which a photographing lens can be kept housed in processing such as reproduction other than photographing. SOLUTION: In the digital camera, during a photographing mode, a lens move control section 40 of a lens position control unit 35 moves a photographing lens 3 from a storage position S to a photographing position P and stops it through a lens moving mechanism 30. Furthermore, during a reproduction mode, the lens move control section 40 moves the photographing lens 3 from the photographing position P to the storage position S and stops it through the moving mechanism 30. Thus, since the photographing lens 3 is positioned in accordance with the status (mode) of the digital camera, photographing can be performed without missing a shutter chance and furthermore, the photographing lens 3 can be kept housed during processing other than photographing.
