PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems wherein when an air electrode is in a sealed state while a fuel cell is stopped, fuel and air residue in the air electrode react, at the start of fuel cell operation, heat generation occurs, and problems occur at early start-up, or the like, of the fuel cell.
SOLUTION: When power generation is stopped, by putting an air chamber 4 in a sealed state, waste of the fuel is suppressed. When starting operation of the fuel cell, immediately before that so that a cathode 2 side becomes to have a high potential in a state that a vent hole 3 of the cathode side 2 is closed, an external power supply 7 is electrically connected to the fuel cell and a residual fuel of the cathode 2 side is oxidized. As a result of this, when the operation of the fuel cell, is restarted, the concentration of the residual fuel of the cathode 2 side is reduced, and combustion formed by reaction with air is suppressed.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
|
