<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict irradiation of ranging light to a subject, in a stereoscopic imaging device equipped with an imaging means for ranging by a TOF method and an imaging means for ranging by stereo matching. <P>SOLUTION: The first distance image generation part 30 generates a distance image D1 from data for the distance image acquired by the first imaging part 2A. A stereo matching part 31 detects a corresponding point from a standard image and a reference image acquired by the second and third imaging parts 2B, 2C, and the second distance image generation part 32 generates a distance image D2. In this case, imaging is performed by the second and third imaging parts 2B, 2C before imaging by the first imaging part 2A, and a face detection part 39 detects a prescribed subject such as a face from an image acquired thereby.
