PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device that can prevent inconvenience where a manuscript falls off when opening an opening/closing member by pressing and holding the manuscript before being subjected to predetermined processing on sheet placement means in interlock with opening operation for opening the opening/closing member, and an image forming device.SOLUTION: An image reading device has: a sheet feeding roller 1 that is provided in an automatic manuscript feeding portion, supported separatably onto a manuscript tray 18 and presses and holds a manuscript D on the manuscript tray at a contact position which contacts the manuscript tray 18; and a manuscript presence/absence detecting sensor that detects the manuscript D on the manuscript tray. Further the image reading device has: an opening/closing detection sensor that detects opening/closing of the automatic manuscript feeding portion; and a control portion that moves the sheet feeding roller 1 on a separated position separated from the manuscript tray 18 to the contact position if the opening/closing detection sensor detects movement of the automatic manuscript feeding portion from a closing position to an opening position when the manuscript presence/absence detection sensor is detecting the manuscript on the manuscript tray.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 19 |
