SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING AN INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION ENVIRONMENT WITH LOW-BANDWIDTH CAPABLE SESSIONS

A system and a method for providing an interactive multimedia presentation environment with low-bandwidth capable sessions are disclosed. A modular framework defining an integrated presentation space is exported with in a browser application executing on a client. A view window is formed as an interactive user interface with one or more hyperlinked controls for selecti ng video content. A still image presentation panel is generated within the view window and displays still image content. The still image content includes a plurality of still images each uniquely identified by an index. A video presentation panel is generated within the view window and displays video content. The video content includes an index track of indices. Substantially all of the still image content is downloaded with an image pre-loader upon selectio n of the video content via one of the hyperlinked controls. A start signal is generated indicating completion of the download. Playback of the video content is initiated in the video presentation panel with a video player responsive to the start signal. The still image presentation panel displays each still image in the still image content having an index matching each index in the index track encountered during playback.
