PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device that can reduce an area of a recording paper sheet to be consumed to detect a failed nozzle so as to allow the failed nozzle to be preferably detected.SOLUTION: The recording device can surely detect a non-discharge nozzle through two-stage detection steps of: firstly discharging ink for every nozzle of each recording head, detecting a discharge state thereof by light detection means, and then selecting a candidate for the non-discharge nozzle on the basis of the detected discharge state results; and recording a confirmation pattern on a recording medium using nozzles before and after the candidate for the non-discharge nozzle including the candidate and reading-out the pattern by a sensor so as to identify the non-discharge nozzle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
