The present invention relates to a method for producing coated can lids from an aluminum strip and is based on the knowledge that flexible, easily deformable coatings having a high wear resistance can be produced by using water-based coats containing a copolymer or a copolymer mixture of at least one aliphatic and acyclic alkene having at least one α,&bgr;-unsaturated carboxylic acid in water-dispersed form and a curing system. In a preferred embodiment of the method, the need for applying a primer coating can be entirely avoided when water-soluble compounds of the elements Zr and/or Ti are used as a curing system in the coating. |
