The invention relates to a method for operating a sanitary fitting and to a sanitary fitting. The sanitary fitting (1) is set up to provide a water jet (4) and has at least one manual actuator (2) for manually adjusting at least a water jet flow rate or a water jet temperature and a sensor arrangement (3) which is set up to adjust a predefined water jet flow rate and a predefined water jet temperature in a sensor-controlled manner, wherein the sensor arrangement (3) is set up to detect the presence of an object in an external sensing region (5), and wherein a control unit (7) is provided, which control unit is set up to evaluate an initially detected object and to discern whether the initially detected object is a water jet (4) or another object (6). The present invention enables favourable manufacture, the use of standard components and little wear and tear. |
