<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write and read data at a high speed by providing a memory card having a plurality of non-volatile semiconductor memories with a control circuit for controlling an interface with the outside and a memory cell. SOLUTION: The memory card has an erasable/programmable non-volatile memory chip 33 for storing management information separately from a plurality of non-volatile semiconductor memory chips 32 storing user data. Moreover, the memory card includes an external connection terminal 35, and a control circuit chip 34 for controlling an interface to the outside and chips 32, 33. The control circuit writes and reads user data in a predetermined order via the external connection terminal 35 to the memory chips 32 erasable through batch process. The management information stored in the chip 33 includes a file name and an address information of the user data, an address information of a failure memory cell array, etc., and is erasable independently of the user data stored in the memory chips 32.</p> |
