LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE: Provided is a lithium secondary battery comprising a winding electrode assembly, a case containing it and ion conducting polymer which becomes gel state when dissolved by the non aqueous electrolyte being in the empty part of the winding electrode assembly or in the empty space of the case. The battery consumes heat generated in the empty part of the electrode assembly and protects explosion of the battery by dispersing the heat, thereby improving the credibility and stability of the battery. CONSTITUTION: The ion battery (20) is comprised of electrode assembly (24) containing a cathode (21), an anode (22) of winding jelly roll type with a certain length and width and a separator (23) to insulate the two electrodes, a cylindrical can (25) in the empty space which the electrode assembly is located and a cap assembly (26) which is attached to the top of the can and sealed inside against electrolyte. A cap (26b) with vent (26a), cap cover (26c) connected to the cap (26b) and a gasket (26d) between cap (26b) and cap cover (26c) are inside this cap assembly.
