An axially displaceable piston inserted into the casting cylinder of a h ot chamber die-casting machine has, between a piston land and a piston body , a piston groove. A sealing ring is pressed by the casting cylinder against the piston land, and with its annular ridge in the piston groove, wherein the sealing ring constructed as a spring ring, provides a constant countering force on the casting cylinder. In this manner there is achieve a simple construction with excellent sealing qualities, which allows the sealing ring to be easily replaced.
