Metallic pigmented paint powder contg. coated aluminium flakes - contg a thermosetting copolymer with epoxy groups

Metallic pigmented powdered paint contg. aluminium flakes individually precoated with 2-200 pts. by wt of an organic film-forming thermosetting copolymer (I) having epoxy functions, of mono unsat. monomers and a crosslinking agent chosen from dicarboxylic acids and anhydrides per 100 pts. of Al flakes. The coated flakes allow high degree of orientation parallel to electrostatically coated surfaces. Coated Al flakes are a reduced explosion hazard. (I) pref. has a mol. wt. of 1500-15000 and glass transition temp. of 40-90 degrees C. (I) is pref. a copolymer of 5-20% of a glycidyl ester of a mono unsatd. carboxylic acid, 0-10% of a hydroxy (meth) acrylate, 0-10% of an alpha,beta-unsatd. amide and 60-95% of esters of a 1-8C monohydric alcohol and (meth)acrylic acid.
