Embossed and coloured plastics medals - simultaneously using colour transfer strip fed into mould adjacent hot plastics

Method of embossing medals or similar articles with simultaneous application of written legends and/or symbols consists of introducing the coloured symbol on a transfer foil into the mould or extruder in which the plastic support (medal) is being produced; the coloured image is thus transferred into the still hot front face of the medal. For an injection mould, the half-mould comprising the feed nozzle or sprue has a feed duct, through which the colour transfer foil is pulled; this half-mould comprises separate components which are forced together pref. under the action of springs, as the two half-moulds are closed; the effect of forcing them together is that the duct is completely closed except in the embossing zone . The colour image is fully and completely embedded.
