ANTIPSYCHOTIC CYCLIC IMIDE DERIVATIVES OF 2-(4-BUTYLPIPERAZIN-1-YL)PYRIDINES Disubstituted N,N-piperazinyl derivatives are disclosed having the formula: I and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof wherein R1 is selected from formyl, carbalkoxy, phenyl; R2 is selected from hydrogen, halogen, or lower alkoxy; Z is selected from (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) wherein n is 3 to 6, R3 and R4 are independently selected from lower alkyl, R5 and R6 are independently chosen from hydrogen, lower alkyl, or phenyl, and A is an oxygen or sulfur atom. The compounds have psychotropic properties and 2-¢4-¢4-(2,4-dioxo-1-thia-3-azaspiro¢4.5!nonane-3-yl)butyl!-1-piperazinyl!-pyridine-3-carboxaldehyde is a typical embodiment having selective antipsychotic activity. |
