PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oxide cold storage material having high heat capac ity under extremely low temperature environment not only in the vicinity of 4 k, but also in 2 k area, having large magnetic specific heat per unit volume and capable of readily producing. SOLUTION: This oxide cold storage material is represented by the general formula, MXAl2-XO3 [wherein, M represents one or more kinds of rare earth elements; and (x) is a number satisfying the formula 1<=x<=1.5]. GdAlO3 polycrystalline substance is exemplified as the cold storage material.
