PURPOSE:To maintain a focused state by appropriately correcting the deviation of a focusing position after completing zooming or focusing. CONSTITUTION:A clarity signal level immediately before starting the zooming is stored (step 203) and immediately after completing the zooming, whether or not the difference between the clarity signal level at the time and the stored clarity signal level is within a prescribed value is compared (step 206.) Normal hill-climbing control is performed when the difference is not within the prescribed value (steps 201a-201c) and when the difference is within the prescribed value, a focus lens is driven back and forth at a speed slower than the normal hill-climbing control and the focus lens is moved to a focal position (step 207). Thus, since the focus lens is driven at a low speed, focusing can be performed without making pictures difficult to see. |
