PURPOSE:To obtain a new silicon aluminium oxynitride represented by chemical formula Si6AlO6N5 and useful mainly as a precursor of sialon for a high- temperature member. CONSTITUTION:This is a silicon aluminium oxynitride composed of a compound represented by chemical formula Si6AlO6N5. This silicon aluminium oxynitride can be produced by blending SiO2 fine powder, an alminium alkoxide capable of forming Al(OH)3 through hydrolysis and powdery carbon as a reducing agent, adding water thereto so as to hydrolyze the above-mentioned aluminium alkoxide, subsequently drying it to form a raw material powder and applying a heat treatment to the raw material powder. |
