SOLUTION: A demodulation axis correction coefficient circuit 21 multiplies an excess modulation suppression red color difference signal Ery by sinθr of the desired phaseθr of the demodulation axis of a red color difference signal (Er-Ey). A demodulation axis correction coefficient circuit 23 multiples an excess modulation suppression blue color difference signal Eby cosθr. A demodulation axis correction coefficient circuit 22 multiplies an excess modulation suppression red color difference signal Ere by sinθg of the desired phaseθg of the demodulation axis of a green color difference signal (Eg-Ey). A demodulation axis correction coefficient circuit 24 multiplies the excess modulation suppression blue color difference signal Eby by cosθg. An addition circuit 25 adds the outputs of the demodulation axis correction coefficient circuits 21 and 23 and an addition circuit 26 adds the outputs of the demodulation axis correction coefficient circuits 22 and 24. Excess modulation coefficient circuits 27 and 28 multiply the added output of the addition circuits 25 and 26 by a coefficient for excess modulation suppression. Demodulation axis setting circuits 30 and 31 set the desired phasesθr andθg.
