An apparatus for treating ropes and bands, especially comprising filaments, comprises a treatment section and devices for leading the ropes or bands through the treatment section. The devices are formed and arranged in the apparatus so the rope etc. is advanced through the section in a spiral-type fashion. Also claimed is the process using the apparatus with the above devices which move the rope forward in a spiral path.
