OPTICAL DELAY LINE BUFFER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a delay line buffer whose assembly and adjustment are easy and whose time is highly precise. SOLUTION: The monitoring of delay time becomes easy and it is easily adjusted with simple constitution for connecting optical circulators 7a-7n to optical fibers 2a-2n through which branched light signals pass and for connecting reflectors 9a-9n to optical fiber delay lines 30a-30n. The delay time of a delay transmission line can easily be adjusted and the precision of delay time improves by providing optical delay micro adjustment units 8a-8n adjusting light delay quantity in the middle of the light delay transmission line. Rare earth elements added optical fibers and optical multiplexers/demultiplexers are connected in the middle of the light delay line and excitation light emitted from an excitation light source is made incident on the rare earth additional optical fibers through the optical multiplexers/demultiplexers. Thus, an optical amplification function can be incorporated and the loss of an optical star coupler and an optical gate element can be compensated.
