Air cleaning device for removal of smoke and smoke products

An air-cleaning apparatus for a room comprises a cleaning device (1) fixed to the ceiling by a holder (4), the device being rotated slowly by a motor (2) so that the smoke filled air is sucked in by the fan (7) over a large radius. Also claimed are: (i) a process of cleaning the air using such an apparatus by drawing the dirty air (11) through a calcium hydroxide (CaOH2) filter system; (ii) a process in which tar products from smoking products as well as tar products from burning wood chemically convert the Ca(OH)2 to calcium carbonate (CaCO3); (iii) a process in which any ozone present loses an oxygen atom and with the carbon monoxide (CO) forms carbonate from the calcium hydroxide; (iv) a process in which very fine particles are removed by an electrostatic filter (8) and the cleaned air (12) is loaded with negative ions; and (v) an apparatus which has a round, oval, square or oblong casing.
