PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical module that can be mounted and replaced easily. SOLUTION: An optical module is provided with an optical module body 110 and a socket 130 that can mutually be separated and fitted. The optical module body 110 is equipped with at least one of electricity/light conversion parts for converting electric signal into an optical signal, and an optoelectric conversion part for converting an optical signal into an electric signal. The socket 130 is connected electrically and mechanically to a substrate 200 and is electrically connected to the optical module, thus providing functions for electrically connecting the optical module body 110 to the substrate.
