The invention relates to a method for surveying the quality of a number of technical product types (P, P', P") which are produced in a quasi-parallel production process. The aim of the invention is to represent a number of process data obtained from the process with as much of an overview as possible rather than surveying each individual parameter to be controlled with its own representation. To this end, the quasi-parallel production of various product types is surveyed by calculating an average from measured values of a technical product parameter from a sample of a first product type in a production station (S1) and storing this average in a multidimensional averages vector in the form of a scalar. At the end of a fixed interval of time (T1), the multidimensional average is converted into a state value (T<2>) for the production of several product types in the production station. Several averages from the production process can influence individual scalars of the multidimensional average during the fixed interval of time. The state variable can be calculated using a T<2> Hotelling statistic.
