The heating device has a heat exchanger (1) and an auxiliary electric heater (2), contained within a common housing (3) which faces the living area at the front and has a cladding facing the wall at the rear. The auxiliary electric heater has a heating loop positioned between the rear cladding and the heat exchanger.
