PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem-type surface light source device, providing a luminance which is uniform over a whole surface. SOLUTION: A surface light source device 10 includes plural bar-shaped light sources 11a, 11b, 11c, provided horizontally and in parallel with each other keeping intervals in the horizontal direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction, reflection members 12a, 12b, 12c surrounding negative sides and upper and lower sides of the light sources 11a, 11b, 11c, light guide plates 13a, 13b, 13c made of a transparent material provided along other sides of the light sources 11a, 11b, 11c and having tapered sections, and reflection sheets 14a, 14b, 14c provided along the lower surfaces of the light guide plates 13a, 13b, 13c. The surface light source device 10 is provided with pilot parts 16a, 16c, made of a transparent material and constructed as one part with the light guide plates 13b, 13c, extending from the light source side end parts of at least the second and subsequent light guide plates 13b, 13c downwardly from tips of adjacent light guide plates. |
