PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube using a split scanning method is provided to minimize deformation of a face plate and a rear plate by using an outer support portion for dispersing a stress due to a vacuum. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of electron guns(7) are arranged in an electron gun portion. A plurality of deflection devices are formed in a deflection portion in order to deflect electron beams emitted from the electron guns(7). A fluorescent screen is scanned to a plurality of region by the deflected electron beams. A rear plate(2) has a shadow mask(11), a mask support portion, and a plurality of opening(2a) for adhering a face plate(1) of a rectangular plane and a plurality of funnel(4). An outer wall(5) is used for supporting the face plate(1) and the rear plate(2). A multitude of outer support portion(20) has a plate shape, respectively. The outer support portion(20) is used for supporting the face plate(1) and the rear plate(2). A groove(23) is formed on the outer support portion(20). A mask support portion(30) is used for supporting the outer support portion(20). A groove is formed on the mask support portion(30).
