BCA SIGNAL EVALUATION METHOD FOR REWRITABLE DVD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for surely evaluating recording quality of a BCA signal written in addition to a rewritable DVD 1 at a high-speed with high accuracy. SOLUTION: Number of electric signal pulses resulting from applying binary processing to recorded RF and BCA signals on the basis of threshold value is counted to obtain number of pulses at the threshold value. Thus, while repeating that the RF and BCA signals are binarized by varying the threshold value and number of the pulses at the varied threshold value is obtained, each highest value and each lowest value of the BCA signal and of the RF signal other than the BCA signal are obtained to evaluate the recording quality of the BCA signal depending on the relation of the values. Relatively evaluating the characteristic of each signal can extract all features required for the evaluation from the RF signal to attain the sure evaluation at a high-speed with high accuracy.
