PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curtail running costs in power saving mode by obtaining a power of an auxiliary power supply for supplying a power for operating an auxiliary control unit from except for a commercial power source in a facsimile machine having a power saving mode function which turns off a main power supply at the time of non-use and controls an operation by the auxiliary control unit. SOLUTION: A facsimile machine comprises: a line control unit 3 for controlling a connection for a telephone line 2; an apparatus body 4 in a facsimile machine 1; a main power supply 5 for supplying a power to the apparatus body 4; an auxiliary control unit 6 which detects a fixed operation signal at the time of a power saving mode when the main power supply 5 is turned off and turns on the main power supply 5; and an auxiliary power supply 7 which obtains a power from the telephone line 2, wherein the auxiliary control unit 6 is operated with the power to be supplied from the auxiliary power supply 7. The auxiliary power supply 7 comprises a resistor 26; a DC-DC converter 27 and a secondary battery 28.
