PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a permanent magnet rotor for a rotating electric machine capable of attaining high productivity. SOLUTION: In this permanent magnet rotor for a rotating electric machine, where a cylindrical permanent magnet 12 is fitted onto the outer peripheral surface of a stepped part 11a formed with a large diameter at a part in the axial direction of a rotor shaft 11, and adhesively fixed on the stepped part 11a, there is provided a cap 14 formed of a nonmagnetic member comprising a cylindrical part 15 and a pair of collar parts 16 formed by being extended inward from both ends of the cylindrical part 15, covering the outer-periphery surface of the permanent magnet 12 by the cylindrical part 15 and covering both end surfaces, respectively, in the axial direction of the stepped part 11a and the permanent magnet 12 of the rotor shaft 11 by both the collar parts 16, thereby forming a recessed part 16a at such a position as to face a fitting part between the permanent magnet 12 at the inner surfaces of both the collar parts 16 and the stepped part 11a of the rotor shaft 11.
