PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to optimize power reception balance between devices in a data communication system based on an IEEE1394 standard. SOLUTION: In this system in which a power supply, device is connected to a power receiving device by a serial bus capable of supplying power source, the power receiving device issues request information showing request power supply (S2701), and when the power supply request is appropriate for the power supply device, the requested power supply is performed by the power supply device in an operation mode (S2702, S2703 and S2714). On the other hand, when the power supply request is not appropriate, the power supply request is modified to make any other operation mode performable and the request information is reissued (S2702, S2704 and S2705).
