PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen burning preventing device that can prevent a display screen from burning without losing the original operability of a television receiver. SOLUTION: A CPU 10 uses a timer 9 to detect that a remote controller 12 is not in operation for a prescribed time and uses commercial data stored in a CM(commercial message) storage section 15 to replace a displayed picture of a conventional broadcast program on a display section 7 with the commercial picture when no operation of the remote controller 12 for the prescribed time is detected.
