<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron source substrate for an image forming device capable of providing an image with a large area and a high quality composed of pixels arranged with high density, with good yield by preventing the generation of line defects. <P>SOLUTION: On the electron source substrate, a plurality of column direction wirings 23, and a plurality of row direction wirings 24 are formed by interposing an insulation layer 25 between them, and electron emitting elements are arranged between two of first element electrodes 2, 2 connected to the column direction wiring 23, arranged so as to face the two pieces of adjacent column direction wirings, and second element electrodes 3 connected to the row direction wiring 24, arranged between the first element electrodes 2, 2.
