Integrated acoustic transducer assembly

Acoustic transducer assemblies 30 configured with integrated electronics technology 32,44 are adapted to digitize signal data close to the transducer 36. The transducers are packaged with a reduced number of elements and sealed for exposure to harsh environments, without oil compensation. A transducer assembly includes a frame 40, an acoustic transducer element (eg piezoelectric device) 36 disposed on the frame, and an electronics module 32 disposed on the frame and linked to the acoustic transducer element 36. The pressure and temperature tolerant electronics module 32 is adapted to process a signal associated with the transducer element 36. The assembly may be covered in a sealing material to protect against external fluids. Alternatively (figure 10), the electronics module may abut one surface of the transducer, with a damping material surrounding the electronics module/transducer to form a cup and a sealing material encasing the entire cup assembly to form a waterproof puck with exposed leads.
