The method uses a unique identification number held in a container lock to establish a group identification number and to employ it for container lock radio control. For each individual lock the incidence is detected of the movements from the opened to the locked position. Each lock communicates with a central control unit, and is provided with an electronically stored identification number. This identification number can thus be used to lock up a group of locks without having prior knowledge as to which lock is concerned.
