PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording material being a combination of a thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image accepting sheet, which enables attainment of a satisfactory printing density corresponding to an increase of a printing speed of thermal transfer and eliminates fusion between a dye layer of the thermal transfer sheet and an accepting layer of the thermal transfer image accepting sheet, of which the thermal transfer sheet has excellent shelf stability and which makes excellent the durability of light-resistance and the like of a print obtained by transferring dye from the dye layer to the accepting layer by using the thermal transfer sheet and the thermal transfer image receiving sheet.

SOLUTION: The thermal transfer recording material 1 is composed of the thermal transfer sheet 2 having the dye layer 4 provided at least on one side of a base sheet 3 and of the thermal transfer image accepting sheet having the accepting layer provided on at least one side of a base 12. The dye layer and the accepting layer 13 are laid on each other and the dye in the dye layer can be transferred onto the accepting layer by a heating means.
