An LCD and a method for driving the same are provided to shorten time required to input a scan pulse to the total gate wirings by sharing a gate wiring to pixels adjacent to each other up and down and supplying a scan pulse to at least two gate wirings at the same time, thereby ensuring a sufficient data charging time without forming a large TFT(Thin Film Transistor). An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) includes plural gate wirings(100a), pixels, and plural data wirings(200). A scan pulse is supplied to the gate wirings. The pixels are adjacent to each other up and down between the gate wirings. The data wirings are formed to cross the gate wirings and supply data signals to each pixel. The pixels receive the scan pulse from the gate wirings at the same time.
