PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FTP communications system capable of easily encrypting a password inputted at a host device side, without having to change the protocol specification itself of an FTP, during logging in an FTP server included in a storage device side from the host deviced side. SOLUTION: When the FTP server (storage device side) determines that a user name, received from the host device, is a predetermined special user name during login authentication, the FTP server creates a public key for a password to be used to encrypt a password and a secret key for a password to be used, to decrypt the encrypted password and transmits the public key for a password to the host device. The host device side, receiving the public key for a password, encrypts the inputted password by the received public key for a password and transmits the encrypted password to the FTP server by a password transmitting means.
