PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing device which reproduces a moving image from the start by using information recorded in a medium or a device to invalidate or to erase a reproduction start point recorded in a recording medium when users and purposes vary, and also to provide a recording medium. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing device which writes/reads information in a removable recording medium in which a moving image is recordable, and management information related to the moving image is also recordable, compares the management information of the removable recording medium with the information of its own device to rewrite contents of the management information. In other words, the management data of the medium contains information regarding a use environment of a device or a user ID, the information of a device to be actually used is compared with the recorded information, and a processing operation is changed.
