PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which has high-reliability with respect to temperature changes by efficiently exhausting the heat generated inside a housing, to the outside. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device X1 is provided with a magnetic disk 11 that is rotatingly driven by a spindle motor 12; a head actuator 13 which supports a magnetic head 133 and makes the magnetic head 133 seek the magnetic disk 11, the housing 14 for housing the magnetic disk 11 and the head actuator 13, a ventilation hole 142 formed so as to have the inside communicate with the outside of the housing 14, and an opening area varying means C for changing the opening area of the ventilation hole 142 according to the temperature change inside the housing 14.
